![]() The NKVD's first US operation was establishing the legal residency of Boris Bazarov and the illegal residency of Iskhak Akhmerov in 1934. The GRU (Foreign military intelligence service of the Soviet Union) recruited the ideological agent Julian Wadleigh, who became a State Department diplomat in 1936. The KGB's main successors are the FSB ( Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation) and the SVR ( Foreign Intelligence Service). The failed coup d'état and the collapse of the USSR heralded the end of the KGB on 3 December 1991. In the 1980s, the Soviet Union glasnost provoked KGB Chairman Vladimir Kryuchkov (in office: 1988–1991) to lead the August 1991 Soviet coup d'état in an attempt to depose President Mikhail Gorbachev. Shelepin found himself demoted from the chairman of the Committee of Party and State Control in 1965 to Trade Union Council chairman (in office 1967–1975). Brezhnev sacked Shelepin's successor and protégé, Vladimir Semichastny (in office: 1961–1967) as KGB Chairman and re-assigned him to a sinecure in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. Brezhnev (in power: 1964–1982) was concerned about ambitious spy-chiefs – the communist party had managed Serov's successor, the ambitious KGB Chairman, Aleksandr Shelepin (in office: 1958–1961), but Shelepin carried out Brezhnev's palace coup d'état against Khrushchev in 1964 (despite Shelepin not then being in the KGB). Secretary Leonid Brezhnev overthrew Premier Nikita Khrushchev in 1964. Restructuring in the MVD following the fall of Beria in June 1953 resulted in the formation of the KGB under Ivan Serov in March 1954. See also: Cheka, OGPU, NKGB, and Ministry for State Security (Soviet Union) In addition, Belarus established its successor to the KGB of the Byelorussian SSR in 1991, the Belarusian KGB, keeping the unreformed name. Following the 1991–1992 South Ossetia War, the self-proclaimed Republic of South Ossetia established its own KGB, keeping the unreformed name. It was later succeeded in Russia by the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) and what would later become the Federal Security Service (FSB). On 3 December 1991, the KGB was officially dissolved. ![]() Its main functions were foreign intelligence, counter-intelligence, operative-investigative activities, guarding the state border of the USSR, guarding the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and the Soviet Government, organization and security of government communications as well as combating nationalist, dissident, religious and anti-Soviet activities. While most of the KGB archives remain classified, two online documentary sources are available. The agency was a military service governed by army laws and regulations, in the same fashion as the Soviet Army or the MVD Internal Troops. Similar agencies operated in each of the republics of the Soviet Union aside from the Russian SFSR, where the KGB was headquartered, with many associated ministries, state committees and state commissions. It was the chief government agency of "union-republican jurisdiction", carrying out internal security, foreign intelligence, counter-intelligence and secret police functions. As a direct successor of preceding agencies such as the Cheka, GPU, OGPU, NKGB, NKVD and MGB, it was attached to the Council of Ministers. The Committee for State Security (CSS) ( KGB Russian: Комитет государственной безопасности (КГБ), romanized: Komitet gosudarstvennoj bezopasnosti, IPA: ( listen)) was the main security agency for the Soviet Union from 13 March 1954 until 3 December 1991.

June has been full of tweets from visiting recruits decked out in Gators gear doing the Chomp and saying what a fabulous place UF is. ![]() That said, history tells us Dan Mullen isn’t quite the recruiting Svengali that Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney are. You know Clemson and Alabama will end up in the top five, so June is a premature gauge. No wonder fans of one show are 6X more likely to also be fans of the other. Untold Stories of the ER (TLC): Untold Stories of the ER mixes medical drama with the immediacy and thrill of reality TV, and as an edutainment show that takes viewers behind the curtain, it’s a great companion to How It’s Made. Insights says that those searching for Parts Unknown are 9X more likely to be How It’s Made fans. Here’s what else on the streaming service is likely to draw fans of this show: Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown (Travel Channel): With interest in the late, great Anthony Bourdain spiking again thanks to the recent release of the documentary Roadrunner, there’s likely going to be even higher streaming demand for his critically acclaimed Travel Channel show Parts Unknown. #2: How It’s Made A reality/documentary series that satisfies our burning curiosities about how everything from lipstick to stretch limousines are made, How It’s Made has a significant base of fans who can now binge their favorite show on Discovery+. Deadliest Catch (Discovery Channel): Another one of Discovery’s biggest reality TV hits, the crab fishing series Deadliest Catch is 5X more likely to be beloved by MythBusters fans than by the average TV viewer. Food host Casey Webb take on eating challenges at restaurants across the country. Food (Cooking Channel): Insights says those who love to see popular urban myths and movie tropes put to the test also enjoy watching Man v. To sweeten the deal for those looking for access to every episode of MythBusters, Discovery+ could target these consumers with ads reminding them of other TV shows in the platform’s catalog that Ranker Insights says they’re statistically more likely to love: River Monsters (Animal Planet): Insights tells us that fans of MythBusters are 9X more likely than the average TV fan to also enjoy the Animal Planet staple River Monsters, which follows an angler who tracks carnivorous freshwater fish. #1: Mythbusters This science entertainment series ended its 15-year run in 2018, but it’s still a hugely popular series beloved by a majority of Ranker TV fans in every region of the US. Reality fans may be surprised by exactly how much bang they’d be getting for their buck with a monthly subscription to this service. We used Ranker data to take a look at the five most popular shows ever to air on the Discovery Channel, according to this Ranker list with 5.5K votes, and recommend new content from other Discovery brands to fans of those shows. Discovery+’s pitch to the streaming public has to emphasize just how many reality TV brands the service has under its umbrella: beyond Discovery Channel, Discovery+ owns content from TLC, The Food Network, Animal Planet, HGTV, true crime-oriented Investigation Discovery, and more. ![]() That means Discovery+, the Discovery Channel’s exclusive streaming service, has a real opportunity to steal market share from less reality-focused platforms. ![]() Clearly, there is an appetite among cord-cutters for reality content. While Peacock and Paramount+ make mainstay franchises like The Real Housewives and RuPaul’s Drag Race available to stream, Netflix and HBO Max are both vying for the attention of reality fans with outlandish original titles like Sexy Beasts and F-Boy Island. Decades after the first reality TV boom in the early 2000s, when shows like Survivor, The Bachelor, and The Amazing Race first began to capture the attention of audiences in a pre-streaming world, reality is still a major part of modern TV culture. Changes in the list ranking may not immediately be reflected in this blog. NOTE: Readers are still voting on this list all the time, and the ranking changes frequently. ![]() It's a bit annoying, but we'll make do with it. Slight shift in the continuity of the pad printing between the body of the dino and the tail on my copy. This is not a hybrid creature invented for the movie and here again LEGO manages to avoid rendering too much cartoon. The service dino is a unique Carnotaurus, whose head is very successful. ![]() The gyrosphere provided here is identical to those of 2015, with a slightly different pad printing on the side discs to reproduce the cracks in the structure. The gyrosphere does not break up during its use, even the youngest will be able to subject it to a few violent movements without risking destroying the machine. I spent a few long minutes playing around with it and it's really fun. The mechanism that allows the minifig to remain seated with its head up works quite well. To install a character in the gyrosphere, you have to remove the two side discs and half of the shell. It's far from really believable even for the youngest, but it does add functionality to the product description. If you want to have fun replicating the lava flow that results from the eruption of the Isla Nublar volcano, a few pieces can be dropped from the top of the building via a hatch. Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom : vegetation, however very present on the skins of the sets but very little represented in the content. This is what is missing from most sets in the LEGO range. The launching area of the gyrosphere allows (finally) to obtain a little vegetation, even if it is in fact here a decoration based on artificial trees which come to dress the starting station. The trailer has a futuristic look that's not off-putting, and the gyrosphere, which can be ejected from the trailer, stays in place. ![]() The truck pulls a trailer on which the gyrosphere lands to transport it to the launch area. The machine is quite functional with a spacious cabin, a coin launcher on the roof, an opening above the cabin to plug in a minifigure and enough space at the rear to store the mini-command center and some accessories. The overly raised chassis doesn't bother me, it guarantees rock-solid playability, even outdoors. So much the better for the overall aesthetic consistency of the range. Regarding the truck, those who had acquired a few boxes in 2015 will find here a Mercedes Unimog type vehicle similar to the one in the set 75917 Raptor Rampage. This box is not the most expensive of the range and at first glance it offers a well-balanced content with a new dino, three leading characters, a plush vehicle and a little (fake) vegetation. This is not the first set to offer a LEGO version of this ball that allows you to go around Isla Nublar park, LEGO already provided a copy in the sets 75919 Indominus Rex Breakout et 75916 Dilophosaurus Ambush marketed in 2015. We finish this cycle of rapid tests of LEGO novelties Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom with the set 75929 Carnotaurus Gyrosphere Escape (577 pieces - 89.99 €) which features, as its name suggests, an emblematic machine from the film: The gyrosphere. ![]() I think in my work, I try to present men in a different way to question this masculine and feminine opposition, and cast the gaze onto the male body, which can be equally eroticized and desired as the female body.”. ![]() Unlike the male nude, which is often perceived as an autonomous subject, the female nude is normally presented in a passive way. The show opened a week after Scruggs posted a mission statement on Instagram, where she revealed her ongoing project The Black Male Form. Her photo series Roze en la Playa on show at New York’s Fotografiska Nude exhibition illustrates how Scruggs is committed to addressing the inequality of male and female nudes in art. The last century of visual culture has seen the female body become a passive creative object used to benefit advertising, art, commerce and pornography, largely by and for men. If you like it great, if you don’t, that’s okay too” – her next step involves moving the needle on the use of the male nude in art. ![]() It’s a lack of parity that Scruggs wants to subvert, “the male nude has been marginalized because there’s never been a dude with his penis out on the side of a bus”, she says, “only now are we starting to see male actors going full frontal in TV and film on a more consistent basis.”.ĭana Scruggs, Rōze En La Playa (2016) Dana Scruggsīecoming more radical as her career progresses – in January Scruggs took to Instagram resolving to “just do what I want. “Seeing the female body nude is extremely commonplace”, Scruggs elaborates, “there’s literally been countless advertisements of naked women on billboards and in magazines, and actresses are constantly expected to show full frontal nudity on screen.”. Her recently released photo series The Black Male Form sees Scruggs - known for shooting high profile celebrity magazine cover stories - vow to use the male body as an object, in the same way many male artists have done with the female body throughout art history. “The male nude is by leaps and bounds way less exoticized than the female nude in art, and in all forms of media”, the photographer Dana Scruggs tells me. You're going to LOVE the view and the proximity to the water (stumbling distance) and if I'm honest, it's nice having a private bathroom & shower. The staff are super friendly and try their best but the place is starting to look run down and it’s a great shame.… ![]() We stayed in 7A and the main fan/light didn’t work (the very nice staff brought us 3 small mini fans) and there was a broken key in the lake side door so impossible to lock from outside. At $200 a night the basics should be taken care of. However considering this place is always booked solid the owners really need to start putting some money back into updating/repairing basic items. They updated bathrooms couple of years ago. As others have mentioned I treat this accommodation like ‘glamping’ and bring all my camping supplies with me - although they do have a fridge, microwave and keurig so it’s nice. Although more roomy downstairs due to this change now there’s no sofa, no kitchen table for eating or a closet for clothes. They need to update the photos and advertising to reflect this as for our grown daughter it was an issue as you lose the privacy of having a ‘separate’ space and we didn’t know beforehand. It basically looks like a regular hotel room inside with two beds in main area. We stayed in an A-frame chalet as usual but big change this year: they took out the stairs to the upper level. Come yearly and it’s just beautiful scenery, lake right outside your door and hiking close by. Where to start? We love the LOCATION of this place. I would probably prefer lake crescent lodge over this one, but this is still a far better choice than those in port angles.… Not too much and we enjoyed the 10m extra driving on a very scenic route. Location-wise it's a little detour from 101, which is not bad, but if could add a bit of driving back and forth depending on your itinerary. Not too much cost (as compared to completely remodel these units, which would be even better), but would have made the experience so much better. It would have so much more potential if the owner puts in a bit of efforts to upgrade basics like carpets, windows, window blinds, shower curtains. This place is a bit out of maintenance and quite old. Staff were very nice and helpful and went above and beyond to address some maintenance issues at in the evening. The unit is very spacious and have a kitchen with microwave which is very convenient for a remote location like this.
